Hand Forged Medieval War Hammer

$248.00

The war hammer, a weapon that was used by both foot soldiers and cavalry from the 2nd to the 16th centuries, features a solid head, long handle, and a sharp beak (bec-de-corbin) for penetrating armor.

This one of a kind war hammer was hand forged from a solid block of quality carbon steel using traditional methods and hand tools only. The eye of the hammer was hand punched through the steel then drifted by hand to fit the handle. The face was split by hammer and chisel in a style made popular in the first crusade and the long beak draw by hammer and hand into shape. The detailing on the body of the hammer was hand forged into the steel. No machining or power tools, just hammer, anvil and a very, very hot fire. The handle is pure hickory, fire burned and oiled with beeswax and orange oil to protect to wood.

At 19" x 9 1/2" and weighing in at just shy of three pounds this war hammer is fully functional and battle ready.

Tomahawk style axe handle is removable and easily replaced.

Traditional hammer finished at the anvil, wire brushed and finished with boiled linseed oil while red hot.
