The Celtic Cross often referred to as the Irish High Cross or the Cross of Iona is a renowned symbol of Celtic culture worldwide. The design emerged in Ireland, France and Great Britain in the Early Middle Ages and remains in use to this day.
This Celtic cross was hand forged from a bar of quality A36 steel. Length of 18", width of 9.5" and a weight of 2.03 lbs.
Starting with a single piece of 1/2" diameter square bar the steel was drawn out and forged to a width of 3/4" and a thickness of 1/4" and secured with copper rivets.
No power tools, or machining, traditional hammer finished at the anvil, wire brushed and finished with canola oil while hot.
