The Viking axe, a versatile weapon and tool used from 8th to 11th centuries, featured a curved blade and long handle, designed for chopping, slashing, and throwing. It symbolized Norse culture, reflecting warriors’ prowess and serving essential functions in everyday life.

This design is based on an rare example discovered at an archeological dig in Ludvigshare, Denmark, now in the National Museum of Denmark. The original dates from 900-1100 AD at the height of the Viking Age.

This one of a kind Wrapped Eye Viking Ludvigshare Axe was a work of personal inspiration and was hand forged from quality 1095 high carbon steel using traditional methods and hand tools only. No machining or power tools, just hammer, anvil, files and a very, very hot fire. The handle is pure hickory, fire burned and oiled with beeswax and orange oil to protect to wood. At 19" x 7" and weighing in at 1.4 lbs this axe is ready for anything you can throw at it or anything you throw it at.

Tomahawk style axe handle is removable and easily replaced.

Traditional hammer finished at the anvil, wire brushed and finished with canola oil and beeswax while hot.
