This one of a kind, large hanging Sacred Heart was hand forged from quality A36 steel with gentle, curves and dual mirrored twists.
The cross is traditional take on a design originally used by early European blacksmiths in the iron age using techniques rediscovered by Christoph Friedrich in an archeological dig in the 1970s. The cross was hand forged from a single bar of 1018 steel with a rustic hammered finish and hangs from the forged heart with a single link of hand forged chain.
The piece is 18" tall, 5" wide and weighs a light ten ounces. The heart is 9" x 5" and the cross is 3" x 2". The heart and cross were forged from 5/16" and 3/8" 1018 respectively.
A symbol of love and devotion this would be a perfect Christmas or sixth anniversary (iron) gift.
No power tools, or machining, traditional hammer finished at the anvil, wire brushed and finished with canola oil and beeswax while hot.
The scroll work that the piece is hanging from in the picture is not included but is available on request.
