"On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross"
A design originally used by early European blacksmiths in the iron age the blacksmith's cross was rediscovered by Christoph Friedrich in an archeological dig in the 1970s. He re-introduced the technique and it's been part of the modern blacksmith's trade ever since. This variation is a personal expression of faith and artistic flair.
This blacksmith cross was hand forged from a single bar of A36 steel with a rustic wood grain texture hammered into the steel. This cross measures roughly five and a half inches by three and a half inches with a shepherd's hook finial.
Hammer finished at the anvil, wire brushed and finished with peanut oil while hot.
