A more traditional take on a design originally used by early European blacksmiths in the iron age the blacksmith's cross was rediscovered by Christoph Friedrich in an archeological dig in the 1970s. He re-introduced the technique and it's been part of the modern blacksmith's trade ever since. This variation is a personal expression of faith and artistic flair.
These blacksmith crosses are hand forged from a single bar of A36 steel with a rustic hammered finish and a shepherd's hook finial with a gentle twist. Each cross measures roughly five inches by eight inches.
Hammer finished at the anvil, wire brushed and finished with canola oil while hot.
